The younger of the two was in shock on admission and the extreme step of fluid replacement via sub-cutaneous injections was resorted to in an attempt to recover the bird. A desperate last ditch bid to rehydrate a dying dehydrated cobra by surgically implanting an intravenous canula into the jugular vein so that fluids can be administered along with steroids and antibiotics. A high-risk procedure but if successful has obvious benefits.
